How do I install my printer?

Tech Support Phone Number is often called to (re) install a printer. In this article, we explain how this should be done for the most common brands.

To install a printer you need:
- The brand and type number of the printer
- A USB A to B cable
- An internet connection
Before you begin, it is important that the printer is not connected to the computer. If the printer has already been installed, the drivers must first be removed from the computer.
Remove old drivers
To remove drivers, complete the following steps. These steps apply to all Windows versions (Vista, 7, 8 and 10)
  • Go to the control panel
  • Check in the upper right corner what it says in “View by:”
  • Here is Category, then click Delete a program under the heading Programs
  • If you see Large (or small) icons, click on Programs and parts
  • You will now see a list of all installed programs on the computer.
  • Search for the brand name of your printer, combined with the word driver or driver.
(for example HP Photo-smart All-in-One Driver Software)
  • Click the driver and press Delete above the list.
Find the right driver
Determine the correct Windows version
First, determine which Windows version you use. If you are not sure, do the following:
  • Hold down the Windows key on your keyboard and press R.
  • A screen will now appear named to execute
  • Type in winter and press OK
  • In the screen that now comes up, you can see which Windows version is on your computer.
Go to the printer manufacturer’s website & phone number
Go to the website of the manufacturer of your printer & support phone number. Use one of the following links:
Use the site to download the latest driver for your printer and Windows version.
Install the driver
Check whether the printer is currently not connected to the computer, but is turned on. Once you’ve determined this, open the downloaded driver package and follow the instructions to install a USB printer. Connect the printer when prompted by the installation program. In the lower right corner of the Windows taskbar, an icon will appear indicating that the drivers are now being installed. This icon can leave you alone but gives a good indication that the process is proceeding properly.
As soon as the installer indicates that the driver has been installed, you are ready to get started with your printer!
